CHANNAHON, IL, June 20, 2008, – Loders Croklaan, a leading and innovative producer of oils and fats, announced today that the company’s North American plant has earned yet another “superior” rating from the American Institute of Baking (AIB). With a rating classification of 915, this marks Loders Croklaan’s forth year in a row with a “superior” score by the American Institute of Baking. A superior rating is the highest one can achieve.

AIB assesses operations in the food processing industry by ensuring food safety and GMP compliance. The process serves as a tool for food processors to evaluate the food safety risks within their organization. Active in more than 78 countries worldwide, AIB is one of the most recognized names in food safety today. Each appraisal includes a thorough review, by highly trained auditors, to evaluate the adequacy of the food safety program, pest control, operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance and food safety and cleaning practices. AIB audits are based on AIB’s Food Security Guidelines as well as guidelines dictated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

"For 4 years running, our superior scores consistently proves Loders Croklaan’s commitment to food safety,” said Ed McIntosh, Marketing Communications Manager, Loders Croklaan. “Receiving ‘superior’ scores time and time again confirms our dedication to outstanding food quality and safety and further highlight the extensive food security measures we have implemented.”

Loders Croklaan refines and distributes palm oil, a natural oil extracted from the fruit of palm trees that is semi-solid at room temperature, making it ideal for baking and for processed foods. Rich in nutrients and a healthier alternative to partially hydrogenated fats, palm oil’s shelf stability and functionality make it an ideal solution for the elimination of trans fat in foods that require a solid fat.
